The retro modifications you cant see, but sure can hear!

Well after a very expensive trip to Lord Montague’s estate in the New forest for the Auto Jumble, which I am sure many of you are familiar with, I ended up coming home with a few extras. They are as follows: A full Inox race exhaust, A set of triple 40 DCOE Webbers with inlet manifold and Linkage, A new set of Koni adjustable shocks and springs with rear end conversion for the Shocks, Electronic Ignition, Deep front competition spoiler, Mallory competition electronic fuel pump, a new set of wiper arms, expansion bottle, windscreen water bottle, Denso Iridium Spark plugs and new leads, alloy rocker cover, fuel pressure gauge etc.. There were other bits and bobs but that’s the main stuff that emptied my wallet.
So tell me, who else bought triple carbs and a competition exhaust, and thought they would through all that together over the weekend, ha ha ha, someone’s having a laugh. If you’re thinking about it be prepared. They don’t fit together!! Have a grinder, a hammer, a tap and die set and Allan bolts at hand. You will need them all and a lot of patients. The only way to get that manifold on is to drill a hole in the manifold that you can get a long reach Allan key through to bolt the damn thing on. If I had known all this before I bought it all would I have gone ahead? Bloody right I would have. The additional induction was fantastic. The increase in this brought up the HP and the torque. But be aware, the introduction of all that additional induction to an engine that been broken in on twin SU carbs is not an easy transition. That old heart of the car needs time to settle in. Realistically a faster cam with additional lift will help this bolt on mod work far better.
